In a video featuring Google C.E.O., Eric Schmidt, he said that he hopes Google Chrome OS will be available on several different netbooks and tablet devices by the beginning of next year, 2011. The price point, which depends a lot on the cost of the manufacturing materials at that time, he hopes to be around $300-$400 USD. The software itself will be completely free, so the pricing will have to come from manufacturers such as Acer, ASUS, Dell, etc. Android tablets are already out in the wild, but Chrome OS looks like it will offer a fully-functional cloud-based operating system running all of Google’s online apps with seamless integration with the Internet.
